"1986" is a demo from a scrapped EP that carried over into this upcoming FT album "This Creative Life." I was going to release it on FlocTober day, but decided not to. I have a tendency to hold all my cards until whatever I think the "right" moment is, so I'm trying to get better with that.

I originally wrote this in the summer of 2022, shortly after I wrote "Crater Lake." I think I unknowingly was trying to be more open & honest about how I was feeling & the way I was looking at things in life & in the world. The guitar loop to "1986" sounded like an illusion of existence to me. Singing about gun violence ("Murder and College should not be in common") in our country, right behind the news reporter, life still has to go on because that's what they told us, & the earth keeps spinning.

This isn't on the cutting room floor of the album just yet, but I wanted to share this with you now. I hope you enjoy it in it's raw form (mixed & mastered, but still), & I hope you're ready for this new album.
